As a Healthcare IT industry veteran, I am rarely shocked at how quickly the industry changes. However, I believe we are in one of the most turbulent time periods in Healthcare IT. Industry initiatives like Meaningful Use Stage II has shaken up the industry, ICD-10 is right around the corner, many EMR and PMS systems are poised for mergers and/or acquisitions and the clearinghouse space is influx with changing revenue models.
We are also beginning to see new faster growing leaders in the industry while prior leaders are beginning to take a back seat. Technology is changing more rapidly than ever and no one knows what the future will hold. It is more important than ever to stay on top of your game to weather these changes and come out better than you were before.
Keeping up in the industry is one thing…but being the forerunner is where successful companies will need to be to survive and thrive.
